Talk to your principle about it. Contact your teachers and recommend they start using recycling bins.
You should also encourage them to use e books or plastic logic if it’s available as this would be a spike drop in paper costs.

The way recycling works is that you pay to subscribe to a recyclable collection company, they put out the bins and collect them. They also try to reclaim some of their operating costs from sorting and selling the recyclables but their business model is based on the collection contract. Depending on the market, specific recyclables sometimes has a high enough value for a dedicated niche recycler to collect them for free or even pay you for them, as it’s paper that you’re concerned about, look for a recycler that does nothing but paper, they’re the ones most likely to do it for free or pay you for it then tell the school administrators about them. If you want the school administrators do all the foot work in finding a recycler, organize a petition drive amongst the students but don’t be surprised if they ask you to also raise the money for the recyclable collection service.

first you need to get everyone that might be doing the recycling, interested and backing the idea,
then talk to your head, and think about (i was going to say a newsletter).. but maybe a presentation in assembly describeing the effects.
make sure you know who is going to be collecting the recycling, how it will be organised or put out, and most importantly where it will be going!
the most rewarding recyling would be see a finished tangible bit of recycling, good luck and cause a stir!!

A great way to start a grass roots recycling program at your school is to start by planning out a campaign for educating the school teachers and your classmates. You can then talk to your principal or educational board members about implementing a recycling program. And from there pursue a local recycling plants or the if your town does curb side recycling then investigate getting put in to your school.
Some cities are starting to implement incentive based recycling programs, which allow a person to earn back points to put towards items they would normally purchase.
Also there are companies that will taking things, like old electronics and ink cartridges and give you money for using them as your recycler.

You could start recycling at home– collect unwanted paper in a tray and send it to the recycling agent in your area, or better still reuse one side used paper. You can introduce this same concept at your school. I’m sure some teacher would help you. Since you are interested in recycling, you may also be interested in conserving water as it is becoming a scarce resource. http://www.bewaterwise.com/tips01.html has some excellent tips on how to save water at home and school. Good luck.
