How do I clean and prevent the formation of black, brown or green stuff on the edges of the bathtub and can that be prevented.

sounds like a job for comet and a scrubbie sponge…cant prevent it, usually caused from soap scum, mold or plain old dirt…try cracking a window if its nice out to keep the moisture from coming in so much and use the comet once a week

Use either of the previous answers. A scrub brush and a green scrubby gets it off faster. Be sure to rinse well. To keep it away, just keep the tub clean and open the door or a window to let the moisture out.

There are new scrubbies that you can get now, but I can’t think of the name of the darn things. They are blue with a white layer on one side, I think made by Mr. Clean. I took 20yr old scum off of a bathroom shower a while back (not in my own house, thank god!) and it made short work of it. I also used a bathroom and tile cleaner made by Zep (Home Depot or Lowe’s), that stuff is amazing. I clean my bathtub and shower a couple times a week with Comet Bathroom Cleaner and never have a problem.
