renewal energy development, environmental clean-up, and other ways to make life on Earth more sustainable. What are some opportunities for small businesses to make profits in this area? What advantages might small businesses have over large businesses in pursuing these opportunities?

Best answer:

Answer by bonn
I think any company can benefit from explaining to it’s customers how it saves energy, recycles, and cares (donates time or money into green projects – like a park cleanup, ect.) about the environment. Small businesses can better reach grassroots people where the green movement began in my opinion and where it is most alive. Getting involved in community organizations and schools and marketing those efforts locally is how small businesses can excel over the larger ones!

Dump mercury, toxins, and radiation into the water supply will make good mixture for you to mix with kool aid. While companies might save some dollars with low EPA standards at what price will this come at? The number of dead people from cancer causing agents by companies is a silent war that goes on despite the lack of publicity from the so call liberal news organizations

Best answer:

Answer by Chikara Yagawa
To attack a green movement, one must use a red movement. Red, the color of the Republic, dominates the color of green. A butterfly who is not quick, will be caught by the bird who is swift.

Question by Life in the slow lane: Why should I go green when big industry, government, the military, gas companies don’t do it?
Individual greening is not the biggest problem to the environment, it’s the super wealthy that refuse to go green, including Al Gore with his home lit up like a Xmas tree and President Bush who pays no attention to environmental impact.
Moi- I am one. But everyone is going to die anyway at some point in time. Why do the rich and powerful have to make us die faster and we are expected to keep them alive:?

Best answer:

Answer by Dana1981, Master of Science
Try taking some personal responsibility for your own actions.

The military and industry will only do what the government requires. The government will only require what the people demand. You’re one of the people, so demand that they change. In the meantime, all you can control are your own actions, so take control.

Question by slobendz: Do we also need to be wary of “Big Green” companies as well?
So far this election cycle, the alternative energy production and services industry has contributed nearly $ 800,000 to federal candidates, parties and committees, a figure much larger than the $ 220,000 it donated in the entire 2004 election cycle. It is on track to surpass the $ 957,000 collected by federal candidates, parties and committees from the industry in 2000, when alternative energy advocate Al Gore was running for president. Lobbying efforts by the industry peaked last year at $ 16 million. This number is likely to be surpassed, as the industry has already spent $ 11.3 million in the first half of this year.

http://www.fecwatch.org/news/2008/07/power-struggle-alternative-ene.html

And This From Nancy Pelosi’s website
The Democratic-led Congress is moving America in a New Direction for Energy Independence—working for consumers to lower gas prices, make America more secure, and launch a cleaner, smarter, more cost-effective energy future that creates hundreds of thousands of green jobs and reduces global warming.

http://speaker.gov/issues?id=0010

EDIT: Ghost – Things aren’t as black and white as you assume.

I did NOT say we shouldn’t look to alternatives.!
But since we will ALWAYS need oil for other uses, we need to get it from here.

Speculation does NOT affect the price nearly as much as the law of supply and demand.

Your Dems want to pass an “excessive” speculation act when they know it’s not the root cause.
THen…they will spend millions and have several subcommittees to determine what the definition of “excessive” is.
Totally unenforceable!

All the speculators have to do is carry their business overseas. Seems to be a theme with Democratic policies.
PS.

None of your calculations have any date or links to support them

Best answer:

Answer by dlk
Absolutely. And how many eons is this going to take, pray tell me??? We need both a short term and long term energy policy. Pelosi and her marxism buddies are just going for the long term. Heaven help this country and its citizens in the meantime.

Give your answer to this question below!

Question by Nichole W: How will green stocks perform in a recession?
I’m doing a speech on Going Green on investing in green companies. I am posting here in hopes to get some theories on how people think Green stocks will do if we end up in a full blown recession? While you’re at it, if you have some decent green stocks that you think have good looking financials or you think are worth looking at, let me know. Like I said, I’m looking for ideas. I have a few I am focusing on, but I can always use more. Thanks!

Answer by westwindsraider
Green stocks will suck possibly more than other stocks because most of the products sold by a Green company cost more than similar products produced by others. Since, in a recession, people have less money to spend or are unwilling to spend what they do have excepting for the best price the Green guys will generally have to tread water a bit longer than others. Buying Green stocks shouldn’t be a decision made primarily on profit/return. They don’t generally show the returns when compared to their non-Green peers. You have to go with your heart to go totally Green, not with your wallet. The market will shift upwards when it sees the bottom of the recession, way before the rest of us see it.
