Article by Jordan Laurent

Heating oil is a widely used petroleum product for warming homes with 8.1 million households in the United States alone, consuming it as major heating fuel. According to history, heating oil prices fluctuate every year but the demands get high during the winter months. The major consumers are mostly residential customers and the demand is highly seasonal, mostly peaking during the months of October until March. Also, it is notable that Northeast countries are most reliant on such heating oil.Heating oil prices are determined from the cost of crude oil, the cost of production, the cost of marketing, the cost of manufacturing and even the cost of profits of refiners, dealers and wholesales. The biggest portion is given to marketing and distribution, and the second biggest part lies in the cost of crude oil. There are many reasons why the prices of heating oil fluctuate. Here are a few of them:* Seasonality of the demand – Since the demand for heating oil varies on the season, the prices of heating oil gradually rise during peak seasons which as of to date, winter. Thus, about 650 to 1000 gallons of this heating oil are expected to be consumed only during winter.* Crude oil price change – A big portion of the price of heating oil depends on the cost of crude oil. With this fact, it is expected that the price of the crude oil varies directly on such factor.* Competition in the local markets – Due to the small number of competitors in the local markets, consumers in the rural or remote areas are likely to face higher prices. Meanwhile, consumers in local areas where a large number of competitors are present will likely face smaller prices.* Regional costs – Regional costs are operating costs covering the transportation of products from one location to another. It also covers the costs in doing business dealings while largely depending on the location or area. These costs include salaries and wages, equipments, employee benefits, leases or rents, overhead costs, insurance policies and even government fees like taxes and several other local fees.

Global warming, rising fuel costs, and all that drama has really forced automakers to manufacture an alternative to gasoline-powered cars. The result is the hybrid vehicle that surely makes everything nuts these days. That’s because hybrid cars have everything that you want to cut costs and reduce emissions. So if you’re a first-time buyer of a hybrid vehicle, what are the things that you should know? Should you instantly jump to it and push the button?

Hybrid lessens emissions

Right now, there is a great deal of debate linking vehicle exhaust and global warming. Some experts think that there is no direct evidence suggesting that vehicle emissions are the cause of global warming. However, one thing is for sure and that is the fact that cars have emitted so many noxious gases over the past decades. For sure, having a hybrid car is one of the best ways to get out of the pollution bandwagon.

Hybrid cars come in many different styles

In the past, hybrid cars don’t look like your regular car on the road. That’s because they have bulky engine mechanisms that needed bigger space inside the engine compartment. In short, hybrid cars weren’t taken seriously because gas prices were still very much available back then. These days, anything can happen and rising prices forced people to take a better to look at what hybrid cars can bring to the table. Basically, hybrid cars of today come in many different body styles, which make them look like regular gasoline-powered cars out there. However, the big difference lies under the hood, because it’s usually heavier and far more complex.

Hybrid cars are more expensive

Now for a car that promises you to save on gas and help Mother Earth, why are hybrid cars so expensive? The fact is, a hybrid car is a special car that does not have the regular pieces of every gasoline-powered vehicle. You have to factor in the cost of the batteries, modifications, engine, and even the transmission system. With these things more complicated, the price of a hybrid car is definitely higher. The good news is, there are indications that the high-priced hybrid days are soon to be over. That’s because researching and the continuous mass production of its components will eventually drag down its prices over time. Meanwhile, just like everything else that is new, hybrid cars are new creatures and in the world of technology, anything new is high priced. Fortunately for us consumers, it does not stay that way forever.

Hybrid cars use fuel that does not cost that much

Hybrid cars are very attractive because they can put your fuel economy to new heights. In fact, most hybrid cars can extend your mileage to several miles using only a gallon of fuel. Because of that, most manufacturers claim that you can cancel its exorbitant prices even after only two years. That’s the advantage of hybrid cars, you buy them at a higher cost, but you can eventually take back that money by spending less on fuel.

More manufacturers, more hybrid cars

It’s simple economics really, the more manufacturers of hybrid car, the lower their prices will be. These days, there are so many hybrid manufacturers in the mix such as Chevrolet, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan, and Saturn. These manufacturers compete to give the customers the best possible product and to accomplish that, they need to sell it a lower price. Economics works for everything including cars and I would not be surprised that after several years, hybrid cars can compete with gasoline-powered cars at the same price.

Electricity rates are increasing slowly as the years and the months pass, and with the recession and the economy today, there’s no wonder why we all want to save a few bucks on our expenses. A good thing is that consumers have an alternative to answer the concern, and that is to build homemade energy generators in the form of solar panels and wind generators. While the solar panels are the most popular ones today, they are also catching up in terms of popularity. Like a solar panel, they produce power from a renewable source – and this comes in form of the wind.

Building homemade wind generators is easy and does not involve complicated procedures. A regular one can create up to 1MW. This energy is sufficient to supply the needed power in the house.

How it Works:

- Wind energy is generated by pressure in the air and the temperature difference. Its performance may be affected by water and the land surface. With the permanently strong to moderate winds, producing wind energy is unlimited.

- Wind turbines are placed on high posts and preferably in an area with strong wind. The generator resembles like an airplane engine. All other parts work together in producing and storing the energy from the wind.

Build Homemade Wind Generators Easily:
These are the major components to build the generator.

1. Blades and Hub – These parts can be purchased from qualified dealers. Searching will be easy using the Internet.

2. The Body – This component may come from scrap materials such as used pipes and other hard quality materials.

3. The Tower – Being the part which is bulky, it may also come from scrap materials that you can get cheap or for free.

4. The Tail – This part may be hand made form wood or PVC.

How to and Tips:

- Assembling will not take so much time, as long as the instruction is followed very well.

- Look for easy to follow guidelines, manuals and drawings. Some may include suggestions on where you can purchase the parts and what you can use as alternatives. Reliable guides may also feature videos to guide you through the whole construction process.

The Cost of Making One:
The cost to make one wind generator is affordable. The amount involved is about 0 or even less. Some parts may just be lying in the storeroom, and some may be acquired free. There will be no cost on labor since the project is DIY.

Some Benefits:
- There are many benefits in making wind generators. There is no limit in supply of wind, and it is free. Consumers will not be dependent on the regular power source which is high priced and unfriendly to the environment.

- Installation can be made even with a small space as long as it there is a permanent presence of strong wind.

- There is always expert advice to turn to when needed.

- Wind generator can fetch the household its own water source.

- The availability of the source of energy is renewable – you will never run out of wind.

- The system will not pollute the environment because it is natural and does not give off any fumes or toxic byproducts.

- Users of wind generators are not under the mercy of power generators.

- The facility can be maintained easily and access instantly because it is located right at your property.

- The energy produced from the source can be stored and use when needed.

- Using wind power generator is more efficient than the traditional power source.

Wind generators can be used along with solar panels so that you can harness more energy. Make homemade wind generators and get free and clean energy today!

I built my own solar panels and a wind generator and saved well over ,000. I get a cheque from the power company because I produce more energy than I use. If you’d like to learn how you can do the same check out Homemade Wind Generators.

You don’t have to be an environmental guru to save the earth. Here are some very easy things you can do right now to help save the earth:

Save Water. Water is a precious resource that we all waste every day. Conserve water easily by:

-Put a brick in a plastic bag and place it in the back of you toilet. You’ll save up to one gallon of water with every flush.

-Fix leaky faucets and pipes right away. In the meantime, save the drips in a pan and use it to water your plants, wash the dog or even cook supper. After all, it’s clean water.

-Only wash full loads of laundry.

-Install low-flow faucet aerators on all your faucets. They’ll save you 50% (or 3-5 gallons of water a minute), and the flow will seem stronger.

-Collect rainwater in barrels or tubs and use it to water your household plants or dry lawn areas. It’ll use a lot less water than the sprinkler.

Conserve Electricity. Cut down on wasteful electrical use by:

-Turn off lights and appliances when leaving a room.

-Turn off your computer monitor before bed. A monitor left on all night uses enough electricity to print 5,300 copies.

-Look for the Energy Star rating when buying new appliances.

-Wrap your water heater set your water heater at 130 degrees.

-Wash clothes in cold water as whenever possible.

-If possible hang clothes outside to dry once in awhile.

-Turn down your heat by 1 degree for every hour you’ll be away from home.

-Replace traditional light bulbs with newer longer lasting/low energy ones.

-Don’t stand with the refrigerator or freezer open while you decide what you want.

-Unplug unused appliances.

Go Green. Going green doesn’t have to change you’re life. There are things you can do right now to live in a more earth-friendly fashion:

-Plant a tree. It’s a great way to save the earth’s oxygen.

-Use homemade or all-natural cleaning products.

-Buy recycled products.

-Use both sides of a sheet of paper before discarding.

-Reuse envelopes and junk mail for writing notes and keeping lists.

Ditch the Disposables. It takes more than 100 years for a plastic sandwich bag to biodegrade in a landfill. Pack sandwiches and snacks in reusable containers, or rinse and reuse the disposable ones. Using permanent containers will not only save the environment, it’ll save you time and money.

Here are a few other things to try:

-Replace plastic utensils, paper plates and Styrofoam cups with permanent ones.

Recycle mayonnaise jars, margarine tubs and other food containers to store leftovers and other supplies.

-Use washable cloth kitchen towels instead paper towels.

Use Rechargeable Batteries.

They may cost a little more, but replacing your disposable batteries with rechargeable ones will save you 10 to 20 times their original cost in the long run. Want to prolong the life of your batteries? Use a plug or adapter for radios and other small appliances.

Just about everything is recyclable. One way or the other everything will return to dust at some point in the future. The only differences are how quickly and in what form will they get there. Recycling is a process that helps the products along their path in the right way. The mantra of “reduce-reuse-recycle” is all tied up in the recycling process regardless of the fact that “recycle” is used in the mantra. Unfortunately, some items shoot right through the recycling process to turn to dust after only a few product life cycles. Others, however, take longer to get through the recycling process –which is where reduce, reuse parts come in- and stick around for a second, third fourth and more lives. These are the products environmentalists like and are often the easiest to recycle.

The most and easiest material to recycle

The most recycled material on the planet is steel. For the most part, this is due to the number of cars manufactured and the amount of commercial construction waste generated each year. Steel is a great reuse item because it can be melted and recast without losing integrity. In many cases, the next printer case you see may be recycled steel or something close to it. Printers are notoriously associated as a price loss leader so cheap steel and components need to be found; used and recycled again if they are to be considered viable recycled products.

Aluminum

Aluminum cans are a recycled product that most will be familiar with. They may not be the most recycled product but they can be considered one on the most beneficially recycled where trash and aluminum prices are concerned. Your next printer likely won’t have much aluminum from cans in it but it will help with other areas of printing like markers in the ink cartridges.

Recycled printers

We’ve seen the recycled products being used in components of a printer, but what about recycling the printer as well. You may not think about it all that much, but there are quite a few minerals in computer peripherals like printers, towers and monitors.

Maybe not steel

In many printers, there is a good amount of steel included. For the most part, however, they are comprised of plastic. Plastic makes up the most waste by volume in our waste stream and is readily recyclable into computer shells and more specifically printer components.

Although there are many products that may not be the most recycled, in whatever measured you might consider, the world’s population is starting to recycle just about anything they can think of. Yard waste is a very big category; glass is a large category while paper and cardboard are perhaps the most profitable categories. When you look around, you may also consider; the carpet you’re standing on, the filters your furnace uses and the waste fluids you use every day when recycling.
